ORGANIZATIONAL
INFORMATION |
|
All women members of Evangelical Lutheran
Church are members of our women's organization--Women of Evangelical
Lutheran Church OR W/ELC. The business of the W/ELC
is primarily conducted by a board consisting of the officers, a
congregational council member and a representative of each circle. The W/ELC
Board meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. (except May and
June.)
The committees that carry
out the work of the W/ELC are: Altar Guild, Book Nook, Cradle Roll,
Funeral Coordinator, Historian, Home Mission Outreach, Web Page Reporter,
Kitchen, Library, Prayer Chain Contact, Sewing Circle, Special Event
Coordinator, and Sunshine. The Mission Areas are: Mission Community
Outreach, Mission Growth, and Mission Action—Stewardship.
BOOK NOOK
The Book Nook is a fundraiser for the W/ELC.
The Book Nook offers a wide variety of Christian all-occasion greeting
cards available at a reasonable price. There are also many Christian
gifts for those who wish to give to others. Of special interest are the
wonderful dishcloths. Come to the gathering space and check it out!
LIBRARY
The library is a gathering room for research,
reading for pleasure, bible study and church related meetings. It has a
nice selection of fiction and non-fiction books, videos and audio books
for all ages.
HISTORIAN
The W/ELC historian collects and preserves pertinent records of the
organization. Items such as the group’s constitution, annual program
book, newsletter/bulletin releases, invitations, programs and pictures of
W/ELC events are placed in a file or an album for the benefit of future
members.

TASK FORCE
All able women of the congregation are assigned to a TASK FORCE, a group
with two or three coordinators and approximately sixty members. Task
Force members are called upon from time to time to help provide food or
assist with preparation and serving at W/ELC General Meetings, and other
special events. New members are assigned to a Task Force unless a request
is made that their name be withheld. |
 |
CIRCLE BIBLE STUDY
Members are welcome to join a CIRCLE, a group of 8-12 women who meet
primarily for Bible Study using a study in the Lutheran Woman Today
magazine. If you would like to become a member of one of the six circles,
call the church office. Circles meet the first Thursday of the month with
morning, afternoon and evening meetings available.

SEWING CIRCLE
The women of Evangelical Lutheran Church started what is now called The
Sewing Circle in the 1940`s. Scraps were used to sew shirts for boys at
the Wittenberg Home and also rugs were made so every boy had one by his
bed. Today the Sewing Circle is still sewing but the needs have shifted
to making quilts, most of which are sent to Lutheran World Relief. Our
meeting dates are usually the second and fourth Thursdays of the month
from noon until 3:30 p.m. |
 |
MISSION ACTION STEWARDSHIP
During the year, this committee oversees the collection of items for
health kits, sewing kits, layettes, school kits that are sent to Lutheran
World Relief. This committee also oversees collection of soap and new
clothing. The entire congregation is encouraged to participate in this
stewardship mission.
KEENAGERS
Circles take turns serving Keenagers, a monthly Communion service for
people who have difficulty attending a regular worship service. This is
held at River Grove Apts. on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 2:00 pm.
PRAYER CHAIN
The Evangelical Lutheran Prayer Chain is made up of members willing to
pray for specific prayer requests. These requests may be for prayers of
thankfulness, healing, safety in travel or any other prayer that needs to
be lifted to our Lord. The links of the chain are contacted by phone and
are to pray for the member or friend of the congregation. If you have a
request or would like to be added to the chain, please contact the church
office or Ruth Buswell at 284-2100. |
